I’ve decided to buy a pair of Nikon 10X50 porro-prism binoculars…?

Would these be considered good for beginner sky gazing as well as using them for terrestrial use? I have not bought them yet, but I plan to soon.

Would 10×50 binoculars let you see farther than 10×25 ones?

How does it work? Do I multiply the numbers and the higher the number the more distance?
Or does it work differently. Also, I have 10×25 ones, but I want to be able to see farther. What might be good ones to get?
